What has Gary Dennis Been Doing in the Community?
What has the Gary Dennis for Richland Two School Board campaign been up to? Well, I’ve been actively engaging with students, voters, taxpayers, parents, community members, and faculty within Richland Two. At the same time, I’m still deeply involved with Dentsville Baseball, serving as League President and 15U Coach.
One of the most common questions other than safety I get is, “How can we shift the focus beyond just college preparation and offer more for trade skills?” The answer lies in partnering with local businesses to rebuild programs that introduce students to trade skills or offer certifications for jobs that don’t require a four year degree. We need to bring back initiatives that connect students with real world opportunities in fields like plumbing, HVAC, mechanics, and more.
But it doesn’t stop there. Building a stronger community takes all of us. Volunteering in youth sports, mentoring, and helping in schools are key ways we can come together and make a difference. Even if you don’t have children, your engagement is crucial these young people are our future. They are tomorrow’s plumbers, HVAC technicians, engineers, doctors, teachers, and more, and our collective investment in them strengthens us all.
With my experience living and working in Europe, Asia, and various states in the U.S., including North Carolina, Florida, and South Carolina, I’ve seen how communities and governments come together to achieve shared goals. I believe we can bring that same sense of unity to Richland Two. Our success can set an example for districts across the state, showing what’s possible when we work together for a better future.
That’s the vision I bring to the table one where collaboration and community lead to lasting growth and success for everyone. Let's make Richland Two a model for others to follow!
