Safety Is a LOT.
Tonight, I came across a troubling report from E.L. Wright Middle School where a student brought edibles to school and distributed them to other students. Like many of you, I find this deeply concerning. The news report from WIS didn’t specify what type of edibles were involved or where the student obtained them, nor did it mention if the student is facing any disciplinary action.
As parents, it’s crucial that we talk to our children about the dangers of accepting food or snacks from others, especially since some edibles are designed to look like everyday snack foods. While we can’t control what happens in other households, we can take responsibility for what happens in our own.
I urge everyone to have open conversations with your children about the risks of drugs and how they can affect their lives. While we can’t completely prevent students from bringing such items to school, we can prepare our children through education and awareness. This issue can arise anywhere, not just in schools, so let's make sure our children stay safe and informed.
